This web site was set up to address a problem of a lack of information for paddlers in Northern Ireland.

I have always been a keen canoeist. When I lived in England I was a member of Amersham Canoe Trekkers and a keen competitor in marathon racing. After moving to Northern Ireland I spent less time paddling, until my children became interested in the sport. So I started to look around for some good stretches of water to take them out on.
After surfing the web I only found a small number of sites with the kind of information I was looking for. Although the sites are very good I felt there was room for another web site, with information for canoeists new to Northern Ireland, tourists or local residents keen to get started in the sport of canoeing.
